Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is counseling, and how can it help me?

Counseling is a process in which a trained professional, known as a counselor or therapist, works with a person to help them understand and cope with personal, emotional, and mental health issues.

It can help individuals gain insight into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and develop the skills and strategies needed to make positive changes in their lives.

Who can benefit from counseling?

Counseling can be beneficial for people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds who are struggling with a wide range of emotional and mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship problems, and more.

What types of counseling do you offer?

We offer a variety of counseling services, including individual counseling, couples counseling, family counseling, group therapy, and more.

Our therapists are trained in different therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and others, and can work with you to find the best approach for your needs.

How long does counseling typically last?

The duration of counseling can vary depending on the individual’s needs and goals. Some people may only need a few sessions, while others may require ongoing therapy.

We will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs and goals.

How much does counseling cost?

The cost of counseling can vary depending on the type of service you are receiving.

See our Fees and Payments page for a detailed list.

How can I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling or texting us at 336-606-1862 or by filling out the online request form on our website.

How do I know if a counselor is right for me?

It is important to find a counselor that you feel comfortable with and trust. We recommend scheduling a free 20-minute consultation to find the best fit for you.

You can also check the therapist’s credentials and experience to ensure they are qualified to work with your specific needs.

Is counseling confidential?

Counseling is confidential, and our therapists will not share any information about you without your consent.

However, there are some exceptions to this, such as if there is an intention to harm yourself or others.

How do I know if counseling is working?

You and your therapist will work together to set specific goals for therapy and regularly review your progress.

You should also notice improvements in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as an overall sense of well-being.

If you have any concerns about the progress of your therapy, please discuss them with your therapist.

Where is C&C Betterworks located?

C&C Betterworks is an entirely virtual private practice. We are accessible to clients living anywhere in North Carolina.

Why would I want to do online therapy instead of in person?

There are many benefits to online therapy! There is more flexibility in scheduling, it provides anonymity (no running into your neighbor in the waiting room), and you don’t have to worry about a commute (no more hitting traffic).

Insurance and Payment

What does it mean to be "out of network" with insurance companies?

Being “out of network” means that C&C Betterworks does not have contracts with any insurance companies to provide services at a discounted rate.

This means that clients will be responsible for paying for services in full at the time of their appointment.

Will my insurance company still cover the cost of services?

It depends on your insurance plan. Many insurance plans have out-of-network benefits that will cover a portion of the cost of services, but it is important to check with your insurance company to verify coverage. Some plans will not cover any out-of-network services at all.

What forms of payment does C&C Betterworks accept?

C&C Betterworks accepts all major credit cards as forms of payment.

Are there any sliding scale options for clients who cannot afford the full payment?

Yes, C&C Betterworks offers a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients who are unable to pay full price for services.

These spots are based on financial need and availability.

Will C&C Betterworks provide a receipt or bill for services?

Yes, C&C Betterworks will provide clients with a detailed receipt (a “superbill”) for services that can be submitted to their insurance company for reimbursement, if applicable.

Will I be able to submit the superbill to my Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)?

Yes, you can submit the superbill to your FSA or HSA for reimbursement, as long as the services are considered eligible expenses under your plan.

Are there any additional fees for being out of network?

No, there are no additional fees for being out of network. C&C Betterworks charges the same fee for services whether or not a client has insurance.

Can I get a referral to an in-network provider if I am unable to afford out-of-network services?

Yes, C&C Betterworks can provide clients with referrals to in-network providers if they are unable to afford out-of-network services.
